Joe McGrath

BEng in Engineering Entrepreneurship

"Engineering Entrepreneurship offers a side less seen in the engineering sector which challenges you to think more creatively. The modules and skills obtained as a result of this course can be transferred to various sectors.”

Joe McGrath is a past graduate of the Level 8 BSc Hons in Engineering Entrepreneurship at DkIT. He had initially studied the Degree in Mechanical Engineering at DkIT,  but he wanted to expand his knowledge and skillset within the Engineering sector.

“I was intrigued by the diverse modules offered by the Engineering Entrepreneurship Level 8 programme more specifically the business aspect of the Engineering sector which I felt this course offered. “

Joe also found the access to business advice and help useful:

“Access to resources such as the Regional Development Centre led by Aidan Browne took creative ideas and made them functional in the real world by outlining how patents worked, where to obtain grants and funding and how to pitch ideas to business and investors.  “

Joe believes the course has helped him in his subsequent employment:

Following the Engineering Entrepreneurship Level 8 programme I was successful with my application to work in a multinational online payment processor which I am still in today as an Analyst working closely alongside our compliance & Legal Team to ensure we are compliant with our Financial Regulators, analysing data through the business to help implement standard operating procedures and working with relevant stakeholders throughout the company to innovate and test new technology. I believe the skills obtained the Engineering Entrepreneurship Level 8 programme has assisted me with identifying opportunities/gaps within current processes and review data from a business aspect to further assist new investment into online technology.
